Over two and a half days (27–29 April 2026), partners and cities from across Europe met in Thessaloniki for a packed programme of working sessions, workshops and on-the-ground exploration. 🌊 🏛️

The city shared inspiring local initiatives and climate ambitions, setting the perfect stage for a day two field visit through Thessaloniki's urban regeneration demo area.

We had the pleasure of welcoming a presentation of the #ReGreenerationEU Handbook – Measuring the Benefits of Urban Greening and Re-Naturing, developed by Arup.

Equally inspiring, #Commit2Green shared their Thessaloniki pilot (Schoolyards as Green Hubs) turning school backyards into nature-based and functional spaces.

ClimaGen, ReGreeneration Europe and Commit2Green are part of a growing family of #HorizonEurope sister projects working towards greener and more resilient European cities.

Our programme took us from the field, aboard our ClimaBus through Thessaloniki's demo area, to intensive working sessions on impact pathways, governance, ClimaGames, green finance and youth engagement, with Tartu and JA Europe closing things off with their inspiring hackathon experience.

A huge thanks to our Thessaloniki partners for sharing their city's ambitions and innovations with us!

Together, we keep building climate-resilient, nature-positive neighbourhoods across Europe. 🌿
