What is ClimaGen?

ClimaGen is a 48-month Horizon Europe project focused on urban regeneration, renaturing, and climate resilience in vulnerable neighbourhoods. Five Demonstration Cities (Belgrade, Gdańsk, Tartu, Torino, Trondheim) will implement at least 25% more newly created and/or restored public green spaces, while four Replication Cities (Cluj-Napoca, Eindhoven, Gernika, Thessaloniki) test co-creative solutions and prepare for future implementation of the measures.

Objectives

The project’s objectives focus on strengthening local capacities, delivering measurable environmental and social impacts, and generating transferable knowledge to support cities across Europe. In particular, ClimaGen pursues the following five objectives:

Increase green and blue infrastructure for multifunctional climate benefits.

Strengthen participatory governance through ClimaLabs.

Generate evidence-based impact pathways and monitoring.

Build capacities in cities via ClimaValue and City Dialogues.

Share methods, tools and policy guidance through an open ClimaGen Guidance Package.

Nine cities across Europe.
