In August 2025, ClimaGen was featured in a city-to-city exchange webinar organised by the VARCITIES project, which brought together municipalities and public organisations from across Italy to exchange knowledge and experiences on sustainable urban development.
The online session, hosted by the city of Castelfranco Veneto together with project partners, created a platform for dialogue between cities working on innovative approaches to climate resilience, nature-based solutions, and inclusive urban transformation.
Torino shares ClimaGen experience
As part of the exchange, the Municipality of Torino presented the ongoing transformation of the Mirafiori Sud district. The presentation highlighted how participation in European projects such as ClimaGen supports the regeneration of urban areas through nature-based solutions and collaborative approaches.
Examples included the conversion of underused spaces into community-oriented green areas, the promotion of urban agriculture, and the strengthening of partnerships with local stakeholders, schools, and research organisations.
Learning across cities
The webinar also featured contributions from several Italian cities, each sharing their own approaches to climate adaptation, social inclusion, and urban innovation. A common theme throughout the discussions was the importance of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the potential to replicate successful solutions in different local contexts.
Events like this underline the value of connecting cities across Europe to accelerate learning and support the transition towards more resilient and sustainable urban environments.
