D3.1 ClimaGen Impact Pathways 1
The project has the ambition to contribute to several medium and long term effects at the societal level having climate mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity and people-centered co-creation as the bottom-lines that the actions are intended to address. To secure a good path to change, documenting and learning from the project actions, the impact pathways are co-designed to support this intention. Impact Pathways describe the hows, the step-by-step process of change.
ClimaGen will demonstrate how climate-resilient regeneration and renaturing for, by, with vulnerable neighbourhoods can help cities and regions in their transitions towards climate neutrality. Nine cities across Europe will implement or plan regreening measures, use and share local knowledge, experience and creativity in the path towards climate-neutral, resilient, sustainable, inclusive (for all species) and beautiful urban public spaces, in line with New European Bauhaus.

This deliverable is the first, initial report introducing impact pathways methodology, adapted to ClimaGen, as a framework to guide the work of capturing, documenting, monitoring and evaluating the impact at both levels: across the project and at the cities levels. Contributions from partners and cities were collected through two workshops (at the project digital and physical kick-off meetings) and a follow-up survey.
This report includes:
An introduction to the project pathways (chapter 1): what are expected results, outcomes, and impacts, what pathways are, in general, and how they were preliminary framed for ClimaGen.
An approach to impact pathways co-creation (chapter 2): how the project wants to work to update and co-create impact pathways throughout the project duration, with transversal partners and the cities (section 2.1). The approach is translated into an impact pathways toolset (section 2.2), namely several workshop formats to clarify the vision and plan actions towards the desired outcomes (pathways). This process has already started in phase 1, leading to some preliminary results, reported in the next chapter.
Preliminary results of updated pathways (chapter 3): insights for the cities to organize their effort towards neutral, resilient, biodiverse and satisfactory public green spaces. The same insights should be used by transversal partners to plan their support towards the cities in a coordinated fashion. Indeed, such insights are (and will be) followed-up at project and cities level to co-create impact pathways at both levels.
